Does God Really Love Everyone?

I’ve got a super simple answer for a seemingly daunting question…

Yes.

Yes, God loves everyone ever born.

Everything that we do as believers has to be founded in the Word of God. While we will try to deal with really difficult passages such as Romans 9, we will also deal with the Bible as a whole, in terms of the character of God concerning His love.

What Are Signs that God Loves You?

For starters, God is love. It’s an interesting thought to internalize that God did not merely create love, but rather He IS love. God has always been and always will be. This is an extremely difficult concept to consider. The same truth about God’s endless eternity is the same truth about His love. As long as God as existed, His love has been with Him.

We learn this in the most used scripture perhaps of all time, John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whoever believes on Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

His love is the reason for our existence. His love is the reason why we are in relationship with Him, the reason why life is worth the living.

Determining the question, “Does God love everyone” has to start by looking at real life signs/characteristics of His love expressed towards His children.

When God created man He created Him to solely have relationship with Him. (I go into more detail on a former post I made about “What is God’s Purpose for My Life?”) It was God’s longing to be close to His creation, so the very evidence of God being mindful enough of us to simply create us is one of millions infallible proofs of His love toward us.

Another perfect sign for God’s love towards humanity is the relentless pursuit of His people. If you study, in detail, the Old Testament and the countless chances and continual provision for the Israelites (among other MANY people groups) it would persuade even the most outrageous skeptics.

The greatest writers in Hollywood couldn’t create a better script to portray the ransom of God’s love through the Old Testament. In fact, the Old Testament is a type and shadow of God’s son, Jesus, to ultimately restore back what was lost at the fall in the garden.

How Does God Show His Love For Me

No amount of words in any language could adequately express the nature of God’s love in the form of His Son Jesus Christ.

The simplest way to answer this question is by pointing to Christ.

He expresses His love to us in that He gave His life for us as payment to the sin problem that we are guilty of.

It would be hard to sum up the glorious picture of God’s love for everyone with a simple blog post, but we are gonna try to talk about at least a sliver of it.

Being that you and I were born into sin because of Adam and Eve’s failure in the garden we needed redemption. No amount of human effort could have gotten us in better standing with God. In order for our sins to be forgiven we needed a Savior to take the sin problem away.

In God’s very nature He requires a sacrifice. In order for the punishment of sin to exonerated sin had to be dealt with by a sacrifice. In the book of Hebrews the Bible tells us, “The blood of bulls and goats could only cover sins, but not fully take them away.”

In order for the sin problem to be made completely right He had to send His very own son. Being fully God and fully man He lived a perfect and sinless life in order for His sacrifice to be accepted as worthy unto God. Jesus did something no man could do as He gave Himself freely for the sins of mankind. The perfect picture of love was made manifest in the very act of giving His life for us upon the cross.

Why Christ’s Sacrifice Stands Alone

In no other religion is the “entity” or “god” the one who makes the sacrifice for his people. Only in Christianity did God send His only son who shares in His deity, as in He is God three in one, to die for our sins. He showed the greatest picture of servanthood to come and die for the most wretched of people.

He died knowing people would reject Him, spit upon Him, slain His name, blaspheme His existence, and He still freely died for their sins. The bible tells us, “We love Him because He first loved us.”

How Do I Receive God’s Love?

The beautiful part about a relationship with God is that it is simple. His love for us is so powerful that all He requires is for us to trust in Him in return. Ephesians 2:8-9 states, “For by grace are you saved through faith, this the gift of God lest any man should boast.”

Salvation is the free gift of God’s love and He made this love available to all who would believe.

If you are struggling to believe God loves you, consider the lilies of the field or the birds of the air, they did nothing to earn God’s love but yet He still takes care of them and makes sure they have plenty to eat or enough rain to live.

His love is so undeniable that it is willing for you to just simply place yourself in it. He gives us the opportunity to accept it, no matter what you’ve done. There is nothing you can do to separate yourself from the love of God.

Scripture on Knowing You are Loved By God

My two favorite scriptures on God’s undeniable love are these:

Psalm 139:8

If I ascend to heaven, you are there!
If I make my bed in Sheol (hell), you are there!

No matter where you run from God he is there, willing you give your life to Him.
